You are Loved

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

(Ephesians 1:4 NLT)

One of our colleagues is in the habit of saying, ‘Jesus loves me!’ whenever something good happens – like finding a carpark right near the entrance, there being enough coffee left to have a second cup at morning tea, or receiving good news. This has inspired us to follow in the same vein, so that now when we get a good carpark, we too exclaim, ‘Jesus loves me!’.

Evidence of Christ’s love is indeed all around us in so many ways. On this day, where love is celebrated, we want to remind you of just how loved you really are. We love you, and Jesus loves you with an everlasting love that existed before creation. You were on God’s mind and in his heart before he spoke this world into existence.

Henri Nouwen reminds us that God’s loving voice says to us, ‘I have called you by name, from the very beginning. You are mine and I am yours. You are my Beloved, on you my favour rests. I have molded you in the depths of the earth and knitted you together in your mother’s womb. I have carved you in the palms of my hands and hidden you in the shadow of my embrace. I look at you with infinite tenderness and care for you with a care more intimate than that of a mother for her child. I have counted every hair on your head and guided you at every step. Wherever you go, I go with you, and wherever you rest, I keep watch. I give you food that will satisfy all your hunger and drink that will quench all your thirst. I will not hide my face from you. You know me as your own as I know you as my own…wherever you are I will be. Nothing will ever separate us.’ (Life of the Beloved, p. 36).

Aren’t these wonderful truths from God’s Word that we can cling to and remind ourselves of today! How amazing is the love that God lavishes on us every day! May this love inspire and overflow in you today and always. We wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day!

Here is a link to song called ‘Lavish’ that has really blessed us recently. May God use it to remind you of his great love for you!
